JESUShaped

Transformed by the Holy Spirit into the Likeness of Jesus
(2 Corinthians 3:18 & Acts 13:1-4)

What does it mean to follow Jesus passionately? As a JESUShaped movement, we believe it means we share the Father's grace, Jesus' love, and the Holy Spirit's power with others. As these people come to Jesus, we gather them into Christ-centered home-based fellowships for worship, fellowship, and encouragement to stir each other up to love and good deeds. The Holy Spirit's transforming work not only empowers us to become more JESUShaped, but also creates a deep longing in us. We long for all people to experience Jesus and to know the Spirit's power as the Father makes His home in each of us.

Mission

Acts 1:8 & Matthew 28:18-20

Our mission is to reach people here, near, and everywhere with the message of Jesus. As people respond to Jesus, we gather them with us into home-based fellowships where we pursue Jesus and are transformed by the Holy Spirit to become like our Savior and Lord.

We believe Jesus' words to His disciples after His resurrection: "As the Father has sent me, I also send you!" This is His call for us to pursue His mission.

As we open the book of Acts, we see examples of Jesus' disciples putting His plan into action. We want our lives, our house-churches, and the JESUShaped movement to continue putting His plan into action in the world today.

Motivation

John 17:3 & Colossians 1:28-29

The motivation for the JESUShaped movement is an ache in our hearts for other people to experience Jesus and know His love and grace as we do. We yearn for them to experience Jesus' presence in their lives as Immanuel.

As they do, we believe the Holy Spirit transforms them to become mature people; JESUShaped people. These are people who resemble Jesus in their thoughts, words, and actions. We believe these JESUShaped people will join us in living as His presence in our broken world to redeem and renew that broken world.

Movement

Acts 2:41-47 & Acts 20:18-20

As JESUShaped disciples lead others to believe and confess Jesus as Savior and Lord, the Holy Spirit draws these new believers into close fellowship with a group of other disciples. These groups gather regularly in homes and occasionally in public spaces.

These groups devote themselves to Jesus' message taught in Scripture, to genuine fellowship with one another, to holy communion as well as common meals, and to prayer together as spiritual family.

As these new disciples live out their faith with others, the Holy Spirit further empowers them into passionate ministry as they urgently live Jesus' mission to reach those around them with the message and love of Jesus.

Measure

Acts 2:36-41 & John 8:31-32, 13:35, 15:8

How do we know if a house church group is part of our fellowship?

How do we recognize a group of people is actually a JESUShaped group of disciples?

We have defined boundaries of our fellowship and participation in the JESUShaped movement. We do this based on two biblical principles of spiritual cohesion:

By using the New Testament's teaching and examples of how people became disciples.

By living like Jesus, loving others as He does, and bearing good fruit in our lives.

Momentum

Ephesians 3:14-21 & Philippians 3:14-17, 4:9

The ability to sustain the JESUShaped movement is dependent upon the power of the Holy Spirit to lead, guide, transform, and strengthen us. Three spiritual practices are crucial to unleashing the Spirit's transforming power in us and among us:

Prayer

Devotion to prayer and learning to pray as Jesus and His early disciples did.

Scripture

Commitment to know, follow, and obey Jesus, focusing on what He did and taught, as shared in the Scriptures and revealed by the Holy Spirit.

Mentoring

Passion to invest, equip, and mentor new leaders, who discover new potential leaders, who will evangelize and mentor emerging new leaders.
